- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
- In a saucepan, melt the butter and add sugar, water, and salt.
- Stir continuously over medium heat until the mixture reaches 300°F (hard crack stage).
